Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
As an out of network provider, Bre Marie Wellness does not partner with any insurance companies. This means that we are not restricted to any insurance limitations. However, many insurance companies offer reimbursement for out of network care, please confirm with your particular insurer about what financial support is available. Upon request, I do provide ‘superbills’, which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Payment is due at time of service rendered, so that you have no surprise medical bills down the road.
How is this different from a clinic-based physical therapy practice?
I provide one-on-one, individualized orthopedic and pelvic floor specialized care. You will not bounce between therapists or work with aides, which allows for more efficient and effective treatment. Additionally, as an independent clinician, I will be readily accessible to you so that the initiation of your plan of care will be straightforward and easy to process.
Are you able to see me if I have Medicare?
Unfortunately, while Bre Marie Wellness is not able to see Medicare or MassHealth patients for physical therapy services we are able to provide health and wellness services (i.e. bodywork services, private yoga classes, wellness services).
Do I need a prescription or referral?
In the state of Massachusetts, you do not need a physician referral or prescription for physical therapy services. Please check with your insurance company to verify if you will need to provide a prescription or referral for reimbursement.
What should I expect at my first visit?
At your first visit, you can expect a thorough review of your medical history, your current symptoms and a discussion of your goals. You will receive a comprehensive orthopedic examination, and if indicated due to your complaints, you may be recommended for an in-person internal exam (vaginal or rectal). While certain aspects of the pelvic floor muscles are only able to be examined through an internal exam, there are always other techniques that can be utilized — you will ALWAYS have the right to decline an internal assessment, without question. Expect your practitioner to be thorough in their evaluation techniques, as well as provide education and information regarding your diagnosis and prognosis.
How soon after delivery do I have to wait until I see you?
With the benefit of virtual appointments, Bre Marie Wellness, can see you immediately postpartum to help ease the transitions into motherhood or to adding a new family member. For internal work it is recommended waiting until you are 6 weeks postpartum or with clearance from your medical provider.
I’m pregnant but don’t have any issues. Can I still be seen?
Of course! If you were planning to run a marathon you would train for it, right? Why not train for the marathon of pregnancy? Your body is constantly changing throughout pregnancy and about to go through a life-changing event. Every mother-to-be should see a pelvic floor therapist and I am an expert in this area. Pelvic floor physical therapy can help to decrease perineal tearing, teach appropriate breathing techniques and positions for labor and delivery, optimize your strength, flexibility and body mechanics throughout your pregnancy to keep you pain-free and mobile, and also to prepare you to have decreased complications after delivery.
Do you only treat the pelvic floor?
At Bre Marie Wellness, I treat the body as a whole and do not only look at one isolated body part. I have extensive knowledge of orthopedic conditions as we recognize that everything is connected and should be treated that way.
